Empowered Children
High-quality, comprehensive early childhood education empowers children to reach their full potential.
We focus on the whole child. The path to being school ready involves more than only educational support. We want every child to have access to health, nutrition, social, and emotional resources and support to ensure long-term success and proper development. Head Start centers provide:
- Developmentally-appropriate, interactive early childhood education
- Nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch, and snack
- Assistance obtaining medical, dental and mental health services
- Health and developmental screenings such as vision, hearing, and developmental milestone assessments
- Community engagement opportunities such as family strengthening programs, literary activities, and other school activities
- Mental wellness services for children and families
Family Service places a strong focus on the whole child, aiming to understand and develop all areas of a child’s life, including activating their support systems. Head Start encourages the role of parents as their child’s first and most important teachers. The home is a child’s first classroom, and where a child’s earliest learning takes place. The program builds relationships with families that’s support positive parent-child relationships, family well-being, and connections to friends and the community.
At Family Service, family engagement and overall well-being is central to our programs. We connect our Early Head Start-Child Care Partnerships and Head Start programs to other Family Service resources, providers, and community partners to solidify the foundation for every family’s path to future success. Parents and families are supported in achieving their own goals such as continued education, workforce training, financial learning, counseling, and parent education classes. We provide all services in a responsive manner, respecting each child and family’s ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage.
