The Access Network of Early Learning Substitutes (ANGELS) is a two-week, 40 hour, early care and education training program. Whether you are starting your career in early childhood education, trying to take the next step, or looking for a fulfilling job, this class will help you feel more confident and prepared as you enter classrooms.
The next ANGELS course will be held in July.
- 24 pre-service training hours to meet the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) requirements for new providers
- First aid and CPR certificates
- 18 hours of training to count towards the annual training requirement
- 12 hours of practicum allowing for hands-on experience in high-quality early education sites for children birth to five years of age
The ANGELS training is structured to address the skills and knowledge required for working in a childcare facility licensed by the State of Texas.
Topics will include health and safety, nutrition, child development, state licensing requirements, child abuse and neglect, and reporting requirements. The certification opens a pathway for career development and to create a foundation for work experience.

Due to COVID, our ANGELS classes are currently occurring virtually.
Once classes begin again in person, the ANGELS training program takes place at Family Service Neighborhood Place. There is a bus line directly in front of the Neighborhood Place.
Will I be paid if I become employed by Family Service as a Classroom Support or High-Quality Substitute?
Yes! All Family Service employers are paid, whether they are part-time or full-time. Pay varies depending on experience and credentials.
The training program is completely free!
