Family Service partners with various organizations to provide a range of workforce development and educational opportunities.
Wide Array of Classes
Workforce development courses and trainings include:
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
- Community Health Worker
- High School Equivalency Certification or GED Classes
- English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes
- Early Childhood Development Training
- Earn your early Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
- Early Childhood Classroom Support and Substitutes Training to become a certified substitute teacher
- Information Technology
- Medical Front Office Assistant
- Pharmacy Technician
- Trade Skills training
With the wide array of classes offered, the time commitment for each does vary. Family Service and Alamo Colleges help you determine what could be the best fit for you and create an individualized plan of action.
Participating in workforce development through Family Service means you also benefit from additional support throughout the process. You’ll be put in contact with Family Service’s wide range of services and community partners. Free financial counseling is offered to all participants and one-on-one sessions are encouraged.

Trade Skills Training at Neighborhood Place
Family Service, Restore Education, and the City of San Antonio are partnering to bring various trade skills training workshops to the Neighborhood Place
Family Service Financial Empowerment Center offers free financial counseling and support services throughout the trainings. Restore Education provides workforce readiness training such as aptitude test preparation courses, resume writing, and soft skills classes such as workforce attire.

Are the classes free?
Many of our classes are free. The price of the courses vary. The price will be discussed in your initial appointment.
Our team helps you decide which courses will be the right fit for you, educationally and financially, and provide guidance and support throughout the program through case management and participation in our free financial counseling.
Where are the workforce development courses offered?
After your initial appointment, the specific information for your course can be determined. Family Service partners with other organizations, such as Alamo Colleges, for some of our workforce development courses, and the locations vary per course.
What support services does Family Service provide?
We understand there are many variables in going back to school to complete workforce development training. Family Service team members are on hand to help with your specific needs such as financial assistance, transportation, and child care.
