San Antonio, Texas, (May 25, 2022) – Family Service Association of San Antonio grieves for victims of the Robb Elementary School mass shooting, and for our friends, families, and neighbors in the Uvalde community. In response to this tragedy, Family Service will provide an additional team of counselors to facilitate crisis counseling, family counseling, and to address the additional needs of families in addition to our existing services in the community for as long as families need it. Individuals and families needing resources can connect to Family Service direct service programs by calling 830-448-9630.

“Our hearts go out to the Robb Elementary School families and all families in the close-knit Uvalde community.” Mary Garr, CEO of Family Service stated. “We stand with our friends, neighbors, and families in the pain and suffering they are facing. As Family Service has for the past 22 years, we will journey with these families as they face the weeks and months ahead by providing crisis counseling, mental health supports, and whatever else families may need to cope during this incredibly horrific time. Our trauma-informed approach to care means that we can provide mental health supports that families need now more than ever.”

Family Service has provided mental health and other supports to the Uvalde community since 2000, and is deeply embedded in the community. Any families in Uvalde who wish to receive crisis support or mental health services may reach Family Service through our website (www.family- service.org) or by calling our offices at 830-448-9630. If anyone in the surrounding areas wishes to support our efforts, we invite them to donate to us online. All proceeds given in support of Uvalde will go back to providing long-term counseling and healing to the community.

“The Uvalde community will need our support for a long time. It is important that, as Texans, we stand with our neighbors and support their needs today and in the future. Together, we will walk down this difficult road with them.” said Garr.
