Family Service, through your support, empowers over 60,000 individuals and families to transform their lives and strengthen their communities annually. Our team members identify families throughout the year who are in need to participant in Adopt-A-Family and help brighten their end of year.
Due to your generous support, last year more than 300 sponsors adopted over 2,000 individuals and nearly 1,000 volunteers wrapped gifts! We are grateful for your support and passion for helping provide a brighter holiday season for families in need.

Adopt-A-Family Sponsor: How It Works
1. Complete Your Application Online
The application asks you for contact information so we can stay in touch as well as information about what family you may connect with, such as a military family or a single-parent household.
2. You are Partnered with a Family
We partner you with a Family Service family based on the details in your application. Our team will call you once you are partnered with a family to go through everything.
3. Drop Off the Gifts
We will send you a link to choose a drop-off time before December 1st which works for you.
4. Make Wishes Come True
We deliver and coordinate pick up of your donated gifts with the families, ensuring everyone has their items before December 15th.

What is Family Service Adopt-A-Family?
Adopt-A-Family is Family Service’s annual holiday giving event. Through generous community support, Adopt-A-Family provides basic needs, household items, and gifts to families participating in Family Service programs throughout 14 counties in South Texas.
How do I become a sponsor of Adopt-A-Family?
Please complete our sponsor family application. As a sponsor in Family Service Adopt-A-Family, you can choose to be partnered with a family you connect with, such as a single-parent family, a military family, a family in a certain location, and more. The application asks you some background contact information, if there is a specific family you would like to adopt, and walks you through the next steps. Start today.
How does sponsoring with Family Service Adopt-A-Family work?
Our programs identify families throughout our 34 services who are in the most need. When you sign up to be an Adopt-A-Family sponsor, we partner you with one of those families. By the end of October, you will know your family and have their “wish list.” We then work with you to decide on a drop-off time that works best for you. All gifts will be dropped off by December 14th.
Who are the families participating in Adopt-A-Family?
Family Service works with families across 14 counties in South Texas. Our annual Adopt-A-Family event at the end of the year, partners our families currently enrolled in Family Service programs with families throughout San Antonio and other cities to help them have a great end to the year!
Can my company sponsor Adopt-A-Family?
Yes! Sponsoring families is available for individuals as well as companies. Some of our partner organizations adopt a certain number of families Adopt-A-Family. Please contact our Community Development team at cfrey@family-service.org or 210-299-2438 to create a plan that works best for your company.
Can I participate in Adopt-A-Family without sponsoring a family?
Yes! Please shop our Amazon Wish List which has items many of our families are in need of. You can also make a monetary donation in support of Adopt-A-Family. Thank you for your support!
